Hot, hot, hot kit from Label Tulip this month!
I used a combination of the main kit and add on #1...
First up...Bold and Fearless:
• Packaging is all over this layout! I traced the packaging the buttons came in to create the bracket shape. And I used the packaging from some Prima flowers as a mat for the photo.
• I knocked back the black color of two of the buttons with some gesso and ink.
• The painted circles were stamped with a toilet paper tube (green) and with a pencil eraser (white).
• After I painted the background of the photo, I fed it through my typewriter to do my journaling.
• The small buttons are popped up with foam adhesive.
• The title was painted with acrylic paint and then outlined with a Sakura Glaze Pen.
• I did a gel medium transfer to transfer the photo to the patterned
paper (left, turned sideways). Basically, I printed the photo on a
transparency, painted the patterned paper with gel medium, and then
pressed the transparency into the gel medium and pulled it away.
Next...Retreat 2009:
• To create the background on this layout: (1) I sprayed with two colors of spray ink through a piece of lace doily paper; (2) I sprayed a third color of spray ink once the mask had been removed and used water to blend it; (3) I added yellow acrylic paint along several of the edges; (4) While everything was still wet, I stamped a circle dot design with Distress Ink (reactive to moisture) several times.
• The journaling was typed on white paper. But, it looked too stark, so I added some ink to knock back the white.
• I painted the title with gesso and then used a pen to outline it.
• I cut the large gold rub on into two parts and placed one above the
photo and one below. I used brown ink to bring out the rub on a little
bit more.
• The studs are a corner cut apart into two separate pieces.
Next...Sassy:
• I took the remember paper, cut it in half, and then cut it down by about 1/4 inch all around the edge. I traced that paper and cut our the yellow bottom half. I used acid free tape to attach the two halves.
• I used a sheet of lace paper (with little dots in it) as a mask for inking. After inking, I sprayed the Distress Ink with water to get a softer, less crisp look. I love the way water makes Distress Ink run.
• I stamped across the seam of the two halves with black ink.
• I traced the journaling shape so that I would have two matching bracket shapes. I typed my journaling in one of them and used the other one for my silhouette cut photo.
• I stitched around the two bracket shapes and then in a spiral pattern over the the letters.
Finally...September 2009 Daily Album:
This month's challenge was to make something out of the gorgeous file folder that came with the kit. The other girls went above and beyond. I made this little mini album. I love Ali Edwards' December Daily that she does every year. But, December is a terrible month for me to do absolutely anything. So, I decided to go ahead and make a September Daily. I did the same thing for November last year.
Basically, I pulled together all the leftovers from the kits, and a few extra pieces of patterned paper and some paint, and put together the bones of a mini album. Every day in September, I'll add photos and journaling. Here are a few of the blank spreads:
So, there you have it! So, hurry and get a kit before they're gone!
Thanks for stopping by!
