Busy, busy, busy over here! I am suddenly swamped with assignments, projects and things to do. And everything is magnified by the fact that my theatre company is heading into production, so time is definitely tight! Thus, today's post is just a quick and crafty run down of the stuff running through my brain!
1. What I love about scrapbooking.
Sassafras Lass asked this question on Monday on their blog: What is your number one favorite thing about scrapbooking. This was my answer:
The number one thing I love about scrapbooking is the way it has altered my thinking. I take the time to celebrate the relationships that are important to me. I take the time to reflect on vacations and events in ways that I never did before. Love that!
You know people always have a funny reaction when I tell them that I scrapbook. Or I teach craft classes and students will say to me - "I make little books, but they're not scrapbooks."
I get it.
Scrapbooking is seen as a non-art form. It's the same way some people refuse to call ice skating a sport.
For me, scrapbooking has been a gateway into the discovery that I am an artist and that I can create. And while I may pursue many other crafts and have grown to the point where I do call myself an artist, I know that I will always scrapbook and be a scrapbooker at heart.
2. 12 on the 12th
You have to check out Jill's post right here. On the twelfth of each month, she takes twelve photos. Then she uses the same layout design each month to tell the story of that day. I am *so* in love with this idea! And I want to play along! I missed January and I'm trying to figure out if it's "okay" to start with February. I mean, I know it is, but part of me feels like I shouldn't. Silly, right?
3. Tuesday is portrait drawing class day!
I feel like my drawings are starting to look like the subject a bit more each week. This is the same person for all of these drawings (though he did have a haircut between week one and four).
Week One:
Here's a photo with the model for comparison:
Man, I screwed up the eyes in that last drawing. Totally crooked, right?
Three more classes to go! Hoping for some more growth and learning all along the way!
4. Sneak Peek!
Here's a sneak peek at a project I'm going to be doing on the new season of Scrapbook Memories TV:
My very first Kenner Road kit arrived in the mail yesterday and wow! Really, really different kits. And huge! I was shocked by the number of embellishments. Crazy, man! I'm wildly creating now, but I'm not allowed to show sneak peeks until later in the week! I can't wait to share! I've made some layouts that are different for me, but really make me happy!
So, that's it from here. Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what's on your mind!
