I'm so excited to be a part of this blog hop promoting Scrapbooks Etc. Magazine's monthly Craft It Forward campaign! Craft It Forward is about sharing your scrapbooking and crafting skills for good. This month the challenge is to create a Patriotic thank you card:
"Prepare to celebrate our nation’s independence by crafting thank you cards for the troops. Join an Adopt-A-Soldier program to send care packages to men and women serving overseas or visit your local veterans’ hospital to make a difference closer to home."
For today's blog hop we were asked to create our version of this card:
You were allowed to modify it in any way - it did not have to have a patriotic them. You could scraplift it, adapt it or even just use it as inspiration.
Here's what I created:
You can see that I mimicked the smaller paper - rounded on the corners - mounted onto the card base. I also picked up on the group of three (blue, red, and well, mine is yellow instead of white).
These flowers are wire and handpainted paper and they are kind of star-y, right?
And you can see that I was inspired by the sentiment and the way it was mounted on a separate piece of paper.
This card has a ton of dimension. Check out the side view:
Mostly, I really like the "glow" that you can see in the center of the card.
It's one of my favorite Distress Ink techniques (one I teach in my classes, including my online class, Technique-a-Palooza: Paint & Ink).
