If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
Oh my gosh, you guys! I just made my very first wire bound journal and I can't believe how easy it was! I will admit that I generally prefer a sewn binding because I like to create two-page spreads, but the ease of this binding may change my mind...!
One of the tools that We R Memory Keepers sent me to demo on HSN was the Cinch bookbinding machine (the link goes to the one with round holes - I used the one with square holes, but it's slightly more expensive).
I watched a quick tutorial and immediately got to work making an art journal!
I posted a super duper fast forward 15-second flip through on instagram and someone asked for a slower version. Here it is:
And some photos too! This is just a sampling of some of my favorite pages and parts!
And how about a quick photo of me (in my non-photogenic studio -- ignore the mess) happily clutching my brand new art journal!
Now that I've made one, I want to explore making another. This one was mostly a test. I actually grabbed some pages I was planning to make into a sewn journal and cut them in half so that I could bind them with the wire binding. Now that I've tested it, I'm ready to create something with crazy pages that wouldn't work in a stitched binding. Oh, the possibilities....!!!
