If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.
I am currently in Phoenix, AZ for the Creativation Show! This is the annual show where craft manufacturers unveil their new products for retailers to stock their shelves! The show floor opens tomorrow (Saturday) and I will be demoing the ScanNCut, the DesignNCut, and some Brother sewing machines in the Brother booth. I will also be showing off *ten* new stencil designs for The Crafter's Workshop and a whole bunch of new stamp designs for Art Foamies (some of which are available for purchase NOW)!
I will be sure to share all the fun of the show and lots of pictures of all the new products I've designed when I get back. In the meantime, I figured I'd share a list of the products I'm currently loving in my Art Journal because Creativation always makes me want to go shopping for art supplies!
Deli Paper: It's all over my art journal in little pieces and huge sheets. It's the background of my pages. It's the focal point of my pages. It's the pattern on my pages. I can't remember how I ever art journaled before deli paper! (By the way, that date should be 2016, not 2006. Oops!) Everything that isn't white on the page and isn't lettering is deli paper.
Golden Fluid Acrylics: I use a number of different paints in my journal, but lately I'm obsessed with the good stuff. I love the rich colors and the fluid consistency. You need very little paint to color your page, so it dries quickly! I rarely need to use a heat gun these days when I'm creating. I just go and get a glass of water and when I come back, it's almost always dry!
Princeton Catalyst Brushes: I use them every single day. They take a serious beating and keep coming back strong! I like stiff bristles and they suit me perfectly!
Liquitex Matte Medium: This is my go-to glue in my art journal. You can see how seamless this magazine image is in my art journal. That's thanks to the Matte Medium. I also use it to thin my paints and add translucency. Also its matte qualities ensure that my pages don't stick together.
Permapaque Markers: This face was done using Permapaque markers. They are my go-to markers in my art journal. I love them. They have no odor. You don't have to shake them. They come in lots of colors. You can use them on raw paper or over dried acrylic paint. Also, while they're wet you can smudge them (especially on dried acrylic paint) for more painterly effects..
White Sharpie: I have a lot of white pens that I use for different things. In my art journal, over dried acrylic paint, I always reach for a white Sharpie. Super white. Super opaque. Can't live without it!
Thanks for stopping by!
