Challenge: Week 29

Over at the All American Scrapbook Company, I posted week 29 of the weekly challenge. Here it is: Create a layout inspired by the following quote: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” -Albert Einstein Note: The quote does not have to appear on the layout, but it can. Here's my layout: I'm away from home and without a scanner, so I had to photograph the layout and I kind of like the personal look of seeing hands holding the layout. It gives a sense of scale! I used this month's Scrapologie kit for... Read more →

Time

There's so much I want to do, and never enough time to do it! I'm sure that statement is hilarious to some because I don't have kids yet. I'm sure I'll look back in a few years and wonder why I didn't get more done with all the free time I had? I feel that way about college. I remember thinking that there was so much to do and so little time. Looking back, that seems absurd. How hard is it to write a twenty page paper? Seriously? But, right now, I feel pretty busy! This brings me to my... Read more →

2Daisies Designs

2Daisies sent out packets of product to their Design Team Hopefuls. I've been out of of town and I came home to find mine waiting for me yesterday. Enclosed in the package were five pieces of patterned paper, a WordBloom mini album and a letter indicating that the designs are due tomorrow! Eek! So, I got to work and here's what I came up with: BIANCA IS The black border is for viewing purposes only. I handcut flowers, stars and heads from patterned paper. After creating a “strip” of the flowers and stars, I used foam adhesive to pop up... Read more →

Tweezerbee Precision Tweezers (Reverse Grip): A Love Letter

My Darling, I miss you already. I can hardly believe that we’ve been together for more than two years! I admit, I didn’t think much of you when I first saw you. Skinny, black and yellow. Knowing how deeply devoted to you I am, I find it hilarious that my first thought upon seeing you was, “Useless.” But, I was already in a relationship with a pair of Making Memories reverse grip tweezers. It wasn’t great. His points were dull. (You are sharp as a tack!) He didn’t seem to really be able to “hold on” to small items. (You... Read more →

July at Just Let Me Scrapbook!

Just Let Me Scrapbook has a ton of great stuff on sale this month! Check it out if you're looking for some bargains! In the meantime, here are my design team projects for this month: Here's the 411 on how I made this box: I took a gift box somebody had given me and I gently pulled it apart. I scanned the flattened version and used Photoshop Elements to convert the image into a line drawing. I then turned that line drawing into a Klic-N-Kut file and used my Klic-N-Kut to cut it. (An easier way to do this would... Read more →

Some New Work...

Well, I've been hoarding all my work lately. Seems like there's always some contest that needs "never before seen work." Or, I'm working on something for an article that's coming out in two weeks, so I have to hold on to it until then. It's so difficult not to share! But, I recently created several layouts for the design team contest over at Serendipity Scrapbooks. The design team search runs through July 15, and it's a great board. It's a really nice store too, lots of stuff that's totally my style. I'm trying really hard not to buy any more... Read more →

Altered Items...? Some Thoughts

What is an altered item? As an adjective, dictionary.com defines the word "altered" as: "Changed in form or character without becoming something else." As a verb, the word is defined as: "To change or make different; modify." In the scrapping world, it has become an absolute "must" to be able to alter items. Some common examples include: clipboards decorated with patterned paper and scrapbooking embellishments, clock faces covered with patterned paper, and boxes of all sizes covered in patterned paper and decorated with all manner of embellishments. Most Design Teams require you to submit at least one altered item per... Read more →

Are You Living The Memory or Capturing It?

I'm on vacation this week at a destination wedding in the Caribbean. (Hard life, I know.) Yesterday, we went to the wedding and I was taking photos to scrapbook. Well, I was suddenly conscious of how much my photography has changed. I was annoyed with background clutter. I wanted close ups of faces. But, I was trying to be very respectful of the professional photographers and the ceremony and stay out of the way. It was extremely frustrating! During the ceremony, I found myself more focused on the angle of the sun and why the bridesmaid was always in the... Read more →
