August for Just Let Me Scrapbook

I wanted to share my August projects for Just Let Me Scrapbook.

Thank You Card

All the paper is Basic Grey. I used my Martha Stewart leaf punch for the first time. You'll recall I got if for free after attending a taping of her show during scrapbooking week. I freehand cut the stems and then just adhered the leaves. The adorable felt flowers from Junkitz come with the embroidery floss centers. So easy!

The Arm

I have been lusting after these Autumn Leaves "For the Record" stamps for I don't know how long! I totally adore them! Anyhow, I'm trying to work through my childhood photos and I love this snapshot of me and my Mom. I can remember the feeling of being trapped under her arm. I'd sneak into her bed after my Dad left for work and she'd greet me with a hug and put her arm around me. But then she'd fall back asleep and I'd be stuck under her arm. I still came back day after day!

A Beautiful Mother

I have trouble going to sleep if I haven't finished my project. Thus the reason I'm still up at 4:37am. But, this layout sat on my desk half done for a few days. I think it's very "me," but it's also a bit different for me at the same time. It's a different kind of layering than I usually do and computer journaling is pretty rare for me too. I think I had to let it percolate for a while before I was ready to commit. Once I did, it came together fairly quickly. Here's the journaling:

I know that every little girl thinks that her Mother is the most beautiful woman on earth. I certainly do. Growing up, everyone I knew would tell me, “Your Mother is so beautiful.” “Your Mother is absolutely gorgeous!” And I have to agree. The funny thing is, my Mother never wants to be told that. She’s disappointed when people use the word “beautiful” to describe her. She thinks of herself as smart. She wants the first thing that people notice to be her intelligence. She’d like them to talk about her personality or all the wonderful things that she has accomplished. She’s concerned about what makes her beautiful inside, and I think that makes her even more beautiful on the outside.
