Curtains, Good News, and a Promise

Three things to share today.... CURTAINS My brother is a very hip, very trendy guy. He lives in L.A. and wanted some funky, retro curtains for his place. He lives in a little bungalow - the entire building is his tiny one-bedroom apartment. He also wanted the curtains to block out the light as much as humanly possible. So, this is what I made him: Many months ago, I bought that gorgeous Japanese fabric at my favorite quilt store in NYC, and have been hoarding it for something that I knew would come up. I didn't have quite enough to... Read more →

Sketchtastic and a Thank You...

First of all, let me share that I have the cold to beat all colds. I feel so unbelievably terrible, I am at a loss for words. So, forgive me if my typing is incoherent. I must begin by thanking my friend, Nat, for giving me this award... This award is generally given to bloggers based on their creativity, design, interesting material, and contribution to the blogging community, no matter what language. Very cool. There are some rules that go with it... 1 - You have to pick 5 blogs who deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material... Read more →

Scrap Etc. 2008 Event

Well, I'm back from Nashville. I just spent Thursday - Saturday at the Scrap Etc. "Tell The Story Only You Can Tell" event with my Mom. I signed up for the event largely because I adore Wilna Furstenberg's work. Her pages are so artsy and cool and inventive and full of paint and handwriting and creativity. I just adore them! When I found out that she was teaching a class, I was very excited and immediately signed up. Other teachers included: Heidi Swapp, Jenni Bowlin, Angelia Wigginton, Monique McLean, Danelle Johnson, Vanessa Hudson, and Gretchen McElveen. I'm going to try... Read more →

Two Techniques...

These are some technique how-tos that I did for the Scrapbook Dimensions blog and I thought I'd repost them here... HYBRID CARDS WITH QUICK CARD TEMPLATES I love making hybrid cards! And with Quick Card templates, it makes it even easier! Check out this fun design from Tara Sroka Designs: When you open the file it's a layered .psd file. You can see the layers in this screenshot: Drag your patterned paper into the .psd file and place it above the layer you want it to be on. Then, choose "Create Clipping Mask" from the "Layer" menu. As you can... Read more →

Amanda Dykan CT: first layouts!

I finished my first two layouts with Amanda Dykan's Pemberly Paper Collection and Doodley Sparkles and Scribbles. Here they are: I guess I've got circles on the brain! LOL! SueJoy very graciously gave me the following award on her blog. This award is given to bloggers who share their art and creativity making their contribution to the blogging world. Here are the rules: 1. You pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language. 2. Each award has to have the name of... Read more →

Friday Collection

Today, I have a whole bunch of randomness for you: 1. I am thrilled that the Scrap Mojo girls chose my layout as their fave for this week's challenge! A new challenge goes up on Saturday! 2. Heart in Hands Scraps is closing. *Sad* I was planning to offer this project: as a downloadable e-book there. Instead, you can pick up a .pdf of the instructions for a mere $10 at My Creative Classroom! I know it looks complicated, but it's really quite easy to make (even for someone with minimal sewing experience). 3. I am going to a 3-day... Read more →

I Love This Mini!

I went to a crop on Friday night at my favorite spot: Cheryl's office! I showed up around 7:30 or 8pm and there was a nice group of women working hard. I spent the first few hours chatting, choosing photos and editing them (gotta' love laptops). I brought my PictureMate with me so that I could print my photos too. When I got home at 7am - that's right: 7am (the sun was up - eek) - I had finished this adorable mini book... It's a gift for some friends, but I'm really sad to see it go. It's so... Read more →
