Prima's Build-A-Page for September

The Last Day of August

Yep, today is the last day of August.  It is the first day that I've been able to sit down at the computer.  I've still got some boxes kicking around the apartment, but I'm pretty much unpacked...sort of.

Here's a quick rundown of what's on my mind...

  • Bought Stitch Alchemy and I am so excited!  I've made things with Fabric Paper before, but this book takes it to a whole other level!  I can hardly wait!
  • I'm teaching a new session of my Journal Quilt Class, starting on Friday, September 11.  The dates are totally wrong on that link.  I haven't updated it and that's totally pathetic, I know.  But, it's late and I'm tired and I swear I *will* do it tomorrow...maybe.  Anyway, it's a great class.  First of all, the students are unbelievably inspiring and interesting.  And I love it because I get to teach a different technique each time.  Basically, the class teaches you how to use things from your life to design mini art quilts (8.5x11) AND we cover a different technique each time.  You don't have to know how to sew to take the class.  There's a lot of painting and mixed media fun!  If you're interested, contact The City Quilter at 133 West 25th Street, 212-807-0390.
  • Having a new crafty space or "studio" as I've taken to calling it, is making me feel really excited about creating.  I have a lot more space and I'm hoping it will change the kind of stuff I'm doing for the better!  I'm thinking bigger and better, you know?  I'll share pictures once everything is actually unpacked.
  • The first sentence of the bullet point above reminds me of a question that one student asked in Lynne Perrella's class two weekends ago.  She asked, "How do you know when you're an artist versus just a person who likes to paint and stuff?"  I couldn't stop myself.  The words were out of my mouth before I realized that I shouldn't answer that question.  I said, "When you decide that you are."

I'll leave you with two photos.  I'm not much of an outdoors kind of girl, but my new terrace has me hanging out outside all the time.  I thought I'd give you day and night:
