When I was putting together the kits for the "Crafty Jewelry" class I'm teaching today at The Ink Pad, I decided that I wanted to put the kit elements (all small little elements) into mini paper bags. However, I didn't have any mini paper bags. So I did what any crafter would do, and decided to make some! I turned an envelope into this: This is a project (making a bag from a paper envelope) that has been around for ages. I remember seeing it on The Carol Duvall Show years and years ago. Of course, I've made my own... Read more →

Prima and Tattered Angels have teamed up for the day! Here's what I did with a mixture of the two companies' products: This is currently one of my recent faves. I just adore the color explosion and the ruffles along the edge. Here are some peeks at the details: I took a Tattered Angels journaling card and cut it into a bracket shape. A bit of gesso and some Glimmer Mist and a beautiful new journaling card was born! Prima's white flowers are amazing to color. All of the flowers on this layout started their lives as plain white flowers.... Read more →

April's Kenner Road kit is loaded with fun (and probably my favorite kit to date)! Here's what I made: "An Act of Lunacy" My Mom snapped this photo of the me and the hubs and I knew that I had to scrap it! Although hilariously, our skin colors are so different (he's red-ish and I'm yellow-ish) that I had to make it black and white or we just looked bizarre. Best. Stamp. Ever. Seriously! How awesome is this set of tiny alpha banner stamps? Yum, yum, yum! (And you don't even have to buy a kit to get it, it's... Read more →

Hello! Hello! I wanted to share two projects I did with the Parfums d'Orient collection from InfoCrea, a French scrapbooking manufacturer. You can see that I layered several journaling cards with foam adhesive and a little paper flower to create the page embellishments. My husband asked me what the embellishments were supposed to be. I said, "They're a playful version of plated food on a placemat." He kind of shrugged. What do you think? Do you see what I'm talking about? And then I made this card: The dimensional scales are very easy to do. Just cut a tongue shape,... Read more →

I got my Studio Calico kit on Friday. Along with the kit, I had ordered some American Crafts binders. So the kit came in a big box with some packing paper. A few pieces of crumpled newsprint. Well, I couldn't let that newsprint go to waste! I decided to pretty it up and turn it into wrapping paper. This is what the newsprint looks like when you pull it out of the box: Uncrumple the paper and grab a permanent marker. Something that won't run when you add water on top of it. I used a Permapaque by Sakura. Now,... Read more →

This month, my "Journal Quilt" classes at The City Quilter did an Artist Trading Card (ATC) swap. Let me show you the ones I made: The base of each of the cards is old paint rags I've fully saturated and retired from mopping duty. And now here's a look at each of those ATCs, up close and personal: I had so much fun making these ATCs - mixing up hand stitching and machine stitching, paper and fabric, and adding lots and lots of glitter! I worked on them for about a week in fits and starts. I would sit and... Read more →

My Distress Ink class ended up with quite a little wait list. So I'm going to be teaching it again, but this time at the Westbeth Community Center, which is much larger and full of lovely natural light. Here's the new date... Ranger Distress Ink is more than just ink to stamp with. Come and learn how to push your ink pads to reach their potential! I will share a ton of fabulous techniques with you and you will leave the class with a collection of beautiful tags. And I accidentally put down the wrong times for my other two... Read more →

Prima and Couture Cardstock have paired up today. Here's what I made: I hand cut the leaves. Here's a process photo... ...and a view from the side (I popped up the leaves with foam adhesive). I also hand cut the title. And here you can see the stitching up close: I'm trying to take more process photos because I like blogging about the process of creating. I took this photo after I had laid everything out and before I glued anything down: And then this scan from after I glued it all down: Doesn't it just feel "off" some how?... Read more →
