I sent my Dad a big box of art for Father's Day. I like to make gifts but I'm terrible about mailing them. Terrible, I tell you. On Sunday I am going to be teaching the second half of my mixed media quilt class. I taught the first half two weeks ago. Harmonie is a Canadian scrapbooking company that kindly sent me a package full of their beautiful products to play with. Here's what I got: Double-sided papers... ...one of which had a very cool secret! That brackety shaped one on the right was perforated so you could pop the shape out if you wanted to, but didn't have to! Everything I got had a kind of tropical beach theme. All my favorite techniques in one place! Well, maybe not all...but I had a great time putting together this layout using Birgit Koopsen's collection for InfoCrea, which is called "revolution.com." I'm really pleased with how this layout turned out. I think it has shot its way to the top of my list as one of my all time faves! When I sit down to do a scrapbook layout I try to think about where the journaling will go. But I don't always do that. Sometimes I just put together the photos and the embellishments and then get stuck when it comes to putting the journaling in. And the journaling can really change the entire look of the layout. There's an "Artists Faire" at CREATE and so I've been thinking about selling some stuff. I don't usually sell my artwork. A few commissions here and there (which I always enjoy), but that's it. But for the last few days I've been working on some small (4x6) artwork. I mounted them on black cardstock (5x7). I'm still a little on the fence about whether I should start selling stuff.
