The One Where I Painted a Feather

Every Day Stories

I find myself less and less interested in scrapping events and more and more interested in telling the little every day stories. You know, the stories that seem silly and boring and have no photos, or sad little low quality pics?  Yeah, I love those.  Those are the things that make up a life, aren't they?

A silly iphone photo of John in the elevator with a million shirts.  But the ritual of taking shirts to the cleaners is definitely part of our lives.  And now it's all recorded for posterity, right?  So let's take a peek at the details of the layout:

Patterned paper scraps and masking tape, all covered in a thin coat of gesso.

This is defintely a throw back for me.  For about a year every single layout I did used these vinyl stickers.  I'm getting back into them in a major way!

Hand cut paper scallops are becoming a crutch for me!  They seem to end up on every single layout!  But I just can't stop!

I painted the journaling spot and then cut it out and fed it into the typewriter.

By the way, that delicious woodgrain paper?  It's from Sultane's Tempor'Elles collection.  It's so fab!

And here's another every day layout -- two versions:

The only difference?  The journaling.

I thought I had finished the page and then I realized that there wasn't a story!  One of the important keys to every day pages is the journaling.  It's the story behind the innocuous photos that makes it your memory. Every time I get caught up in "pretty" or think that I don't have anything more to say, I have to remind myself that while a picture is worth a thousand words, everyone's thousand is different.  So I need to tell mine!

Okay, I'm off my soapbox, let's look at all the paper flags!

To keep things from looking too messy, I painted three of the flags with watercolor paint and backed the hearts with black cardstock.

I love these letter stickers from October Afternoon.  I'm going to be sad when they're all used up!

The taxi is a digital doodle I made when I was toying with designing digital products.  I printed it onto photo paper, cut it out, and stitched it to my layout.

Thanks for letting my ramble on about my love for every day pages.  Have a wonderful day!
