Man, it takes a lot of paint to cover felt. That stuff is so super absorbant! The felt gates (the big white scrolly part on the right side of the layout) used to be a dark brown. I painted them white and it took several coats! I took two identical gates and put one right side up and the other one upside down. The large photo covers the seam. The center of the layout is pieced together from two scraps. The title covers that seam. The "all" is hand cut. The "made" is flocked alphabet stickers from Prima. They're such... Read more →

This is Pencil Lines Sketch #213: I was very inspired by Sassafras' Mix & Mend line. Check out the details: Dress patterns, tissue paper, doily, patterned paper -- lots of goodies all ruffled and stitched down. The label stamp is from Studio Calico. I have a fetish for label stamps. Can't get enough of them! These flowers come pre-stitched and assembled (with the button) on foam adhesive. Easiest embellishment ever! Thanks for stopping by! Read more →

Join me for my next Live with Prima class today at 2pm EST! The classroom is HERE. I'm going to show you how to paint up this gorgeous Hanukkah Blessings Tree Bag: Just in time for Hanukkah, we'll be painting up this fabulous canvas bag! Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Temple of Jerusalem in 165 BC. This is week #2 of the Sizzix Blog Hop! Over 60 designers are participating in the hop! (All posts should be live by noon EST.) This week we worked with the Cube, Twist 3-D (Pop Up) by Karen Burniston. This is the sample image from the Sizzix website: I forgot to take a "before" picture, but essentially the cube is made up of five pieces that you adhere together. You put a rubber band inside to make sure it pops up. Each of the designers in the blog hop received the five pieces cut from black cardstock. I called my... Read more →

Here are some excellent ideas I've stumbled on recently. Enjoy! Cut Stuff in Half From the Pink Paislee blog, Anne Jo Lexander offers up the simple and chic idea of cutting a Sweetness Flip Note in half. What an easy way to provide the look of layering! Canvas Cloud Tutorial Samantha Kira, aka Journal Girl, has a fun tutorial for how to make this awesome cloud and raindrop combo from canvas. My favorite part is the purple wire, which looks fun and controls exactly where the raindrops are. Chalkboard Contact Paper Danielle Flanders uses Chalkboard Contact Paper for the lid... Today I want to share an accordion fold mini album. It's made from watercolor paper that has been painted and painted! Each of the "inside" flaps has a journaling booklet stitched in. You can see it a bit better in this shot from above: I filled each of the little journaling booklets with lots of thoughts. And here's a look at the two sides of the book: And finally, a close up of the cover: Showing off my brand new Martha Stewart alphabet punch. I'm falling in love with that thing I tell you!
