Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week 1: 3-D House

For the next six weeks I will be participating in the Sizzix Blog Hop every Thursday along with almost 60 other designers.

Q: What is Sizzix?

A: Sizzix is a company that makes tools for die cutting -- from electronic machines to hand cranked ones, from simple shape dies to complex pop up elements, they've got it all!

Q: What is a blog hop?

A: A blog hop is an online event where the viewer can "hop" from blog to blog.

Q: What is a Sizzix Blog Hop?

A: Every Thursday for six weeks almost 60 designers will share what they have created with the same exact die cut.  You get a chance to see how many different ways these dies can be used!  To follow the hop, each designer has a hop logo (like the one in the center column of this blog) and you simply click the "next" button to be taken for a ride through cyberspace!

First up is the 3-D House die designed by Eileen Hull.

It's designed to cut matboard.  And this is what the matboard pieces that I received in the mail looked like:

This is the sample image of the finished project from the Sizzix website:

And here is my version:

My original intention was for it to be a fun little birthday centerpiece, but now I'm thinking you could probably fit a cupcake inside.  And what a nice way to give a cupcake to someone, right?!

Check out the details:

The front of the flag has this little happy birthday sentiment.  (For purposes of understanding scale, that flag pole is a toothpick.  The house is really quite petite.) The rear has a candle.

The surface is collaged and painted and draped in a banner of book page flags.

Be sure to hop on to the next blog to see a totally different take on the house!

Thanks for stopping by!
