Christmas Ornaments made with Canvas Fabric Paper
December 08, 2010
This guest post is from Lucy Edson. She has a video tutorial for you on how to make some fabulous hanging hearts!
Hi, I’m Lucy Edson a mixed media artist and scrapbooker. I’m delighted to be guesting today on Julie’s blog for Holiday’s Handmade.
Christmas is one of my favorite times of year and those memories of handmade ornaments from long ago school days inspired me to make some handmade ornaments for our Christmas tree this year.
I started making Fabric Paper after reading Beryl Taylor’s book, Mixed Media Explorations several years ago and love playing with this technique. There are so many varieties and not one turns out the same. You could make ornaments of any shape and size from your canvas fabric paper – I chose hearts.
I’ve put together a little video tutorial to demonstrate how I created the canvas fabric paper for these ornaments! Thanks for watching!

Hi everyone! It seems like I have been crafty all of my life and have always loved color. I started scrapbooking after becoming a mom and watching my photos pile up. I wanted to incorporate my photos into my artwork – I have been creating mixed media for about 6 years and have sewn and dabbled with stained glass, painting and quilting. I enjoy teaching techniques and sharing ideas and share my video tutorials on line. Combining techniques from other crafts into my scrapbooking projects is a fun challenge for me and gives me time to create mixed media and OTP projects combining all of my favorite things, fabric, photos, paint, and stitching.
I have been married for 15 years to a wonderfully supportive husband, Mark and we have a 5 year old daughter, Emma, who provides so much inspiration for my artwork. We live in a small town in north Florida and enjoy going to the beach and rivers. My family is first with me and I love sharing my life with them.
This hobby has certainly changed my life more than I ever imagined. The wonderful friendships and sharing community have presented many great opportunities and I’ve been able to design and share my love for being creative. I’m currently designing for Webster’s Pages, Crate Paper and am a Guest Artist for Stampington and have been fortunate to be a frequent contributor to Somerset publications with my artwork and tutorials. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
