Holidays Handmade: Decor Ideas
December 08, 2010
Diane's button tree is definitely on my "to do" list. I love how she added the tree skirt and the gifts and all the ornaments -- they really just make it something so very very special!
And I am now hoarding plastic bottles so that I can make a meadow of those plastic bottle flowers from Natalie's post. I love how she used a stick as the stem for her flowers. It really makes the project feel so natural and wild -- very cool.
Going into day three I wanted to share a round up of some awesome DIY decor ideas for the holidays that caught my eye!
Totally brilliant idea and an awesome tutorial on how to put these cute guys together from Elise Blaha.
I accidentally stumbled across the tutorial for this cute garland of gift boxes by "JulianaM" at the site A Cherry on Top. I thought it was a fun and creative spin on the whole garland trend!
Not strictly home decor, there are some gift ideas too (necklaces, aprons, etc.), but this is a wonderful power-packed free e-zine full of fabulous DIY Christmas ideas. My favorite project is the felt garland by Pam Garrison. But there's lots and lots to choose from!
Design Sponge is one of my very favorite places to go for home decor inspiration! This DIY tissue paper wreath is from that blog and it's all made from stuff you probably have lying around.
From the lovely and colorful mind of Alisa Burke, this painty stitchy wreath had me at hello!
Drawn Paper Frames Over Chalkboard Paper
Not strictly holiday. In the example above, they've drawn trees. But imagine if you drew some mistletoe or Hanukkah candles or personalized greetings for your guests? What a fun way to get some holiday cheer up on your wall for a little while. From Design Sponge.
Okay, so this one isn't really a tutorial, though Natalie (the same Natalie from today's Floral Recycled Holiday Home Decor post) does take you through some of her thoughts behind making it. I think it's one of the best advent calendars I've ever seen. I love it!
How are you doing? Hanging in there? Is it too much coming at you? Just right? Let me know! Thanks for stopping by!
