A New Adventure
January 24, 2011
I'm really excited to share some big news with you! I'm about to embark on a brand new art adventure! It's not a secret or anything, but I've been nervous to say anything because what if I fall flat on my face? But hey, I figure, nothing ventured nothing gained.
I'm entering the world of art licensing!
What is art licensing?
Basically, it's licensing your artwork for use on everything from pajama pants to shower curtains to cereal boxes. If you look around your house I'll bet you'll be amazed by how much stuff you own with licensed art printed on it!
I've dabbled in art licensing a little bit: I've designed stamps for kit clubs, I designed a line of paper for a French paper company, and I've had some artwork appear in magazine advertisements. And then last year a major American scrapbook manufacturer asked me to design a line for them. I was running around in circles completely overjoyed! But they killed the collection before it made it into production. I was devastated. But it got me thinking.
Why not?
At the end of last year I incorporated as an actual company (Balzer Designs LLC), got a business plan going, and decided to jump into the deep end of the pool with my very own booth (come see me in booth #5040) in the Licensing & Design section at the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) Show!
So here I am, nervous and excited.
I know that in the past I've done a re-cap of what's at CHA, but this year is going to be a different experience. Definitely some photos of the booth and (hopefully) lots of happy news to share on my new adventure!

P.S. Here's my basic schedule at CHA if you're going to be around and want to say "hi!"
Come by the Balzer Designs booth (#5040) any time. If I'm not there my Mom will be! I suckered her into being my fabulous (unpaid) slave, er, assistant.

- Sunday, January 30, 3-3:30pm: I'll be demo-ing at the ScraPerfect booth.
