Channeling My Inner Louise Nelson

I just want to say thank you so much to everyone for your warm and wonderful wishes on yesterday's post.  I feel buoyed by your support!  Now on to the main event....

No one uses tissue paper and kraft cardstock like Miss Louise.  I decided to channel my inner Louise and play with some dress patterns to create texture on the background of this layout:

Boy was it a good time!  I'm definitely going to be doing it a lot more.

A peek at the texture.  Yum!  I stitched the letters down (pesky self-adhesive letters that don't stick) and the black droplets are a brand new art supply I bought to play with: black sumi ink.  I love how deeply black it is.  It does take forever to dry, but I'm experimenting with how to take advantage of that!

After seeing this girl's tutorial on edging her photos with paint, I was motivated to do it to my photo!  And it's so funny, but can you believe that as many of her layouts as I've seen, I never noticed the painted photos?!  It's funny how little things like that can slip by you!

I used two Crafter's Workshop stencils on this layout: the butterfly wing and the circles.  They make it so easy to create your own beautiful backgrounds!

Thanks for stopping by!
