I combined my new stencils (yay!) from The Crafter's Workshop (TCW) with Golden Fluid Acrylics and acrylic paint from DecoArts to make this lovely little (actually it's BIG - 16x20) face. The kind people at DecoArts sent me some of their Traditions paints to play with and I had a good time experimenting with a color palette that's slightly different than I'm used to.
The paint is very creamy, goes on beautifully, and has a great matte finish. I was a little worried that the paint would be too transparent (it's nice and opaque) or have too much water content (it doesn't). Over the last year or so a few different people have been kind enough to give me paint samples to try. But I'm kind of picky about what I like. I am definitely a fan of the consistency of these paints. The colors are a little dark for me, but with a range of 68 colors, I'm pretty sure I can find some brighter shades! If you're interested, here's a guide to where to buy DecoArts paint.
Now let's take a closer look at the details of the canvas:
The triangles are one of my favorite parts of this collage. Love the way the book pages peek through where the stencil was covering that area.
Chevron Stencil = Awesome Directionality. I love how there's such a sense of direction wherever that chevron is used!
And here's a peek at the painting while it was very much in progress:
I actually kind of like it just like that too! Ah, the world is full of too many great possibilities!
