TCW228: Herringbone Stencil

RCW227 Chevron Stencil

TCW-BalzerDesignsHEADER
Welcome to Stencil-a-Palooza!  Several days a week for the next month or so I'll be featuring one of my eighteen stencil designs for The Crafter's Workshop!  Each post comes with a giveaway.  Leave a comment answering the question-of-the-day and you might be the winner of that day's featured stencil in both 6x6 and 12x12!  Comments will remain open on this post for seventy-two hours.  The winner will be announced after that.  In the meantime, if you'd like to purchase any of the stencils there are many in-person and online shops to choose from (including my own little online shop).  See a complete list here.

Meet RCW227 Chevron:

Chevron
Chevrons are all the rage lately, aren't they?  A quick search on Pinterest comes up with thousands of entries:

Clothing, home decor, paper crafts...chevrons are everywhere!  Feeling inspired, I put together this background...

...which led to this layout:

And I loved it so much that I decided I had to do a video tutorial on how to create that chevron background.

And since I had the pink-on-pink chevron paper, I decided to make another layout:

But I couldn't let my scrapbook have all the fun!  I made some tags too:

The chevron design is actually embossed onto the tag.

Tags are a great way to experiment with techniques and ideas.  They're sturdy and a great size.  Often when I find a technique I like I'll scribble the instructions on the background.  It makes an excellent reference tool.

This tag uses watercolor:

And this one uses pan pastels and acrylics:

I love, love, love the stamp set I used to stamp "frustrated."  I bought it when I was out in Chicago and I can see I'm going to get a lot more use out of it!

Finally, I played in my art journal:

As you can see, I also used the Edith and Maude face stencils on this one.

To win both the 6x6 and 12x12 versions of the Chevron Stencil, answer the Question of the Day:

What is a question you have about stenciling?
