November 2011 posts

In 2007 I did a project for the holiday season called "25 Days Until Christmas." A woman named Sophia posted a blogging challenge over at Two Peas in a Bucket. Here's her blogging challenge from 2007: Here's a little blogging inspiration for the next few weeks while we count down until the big day! This year, rather than one big meme about Christmas, use the questions below as a prompt. Answer one each day of December. It doesn't have to be your entire entry, add it to whatever you are posting. I'm posting them on this first day of December... Read more →

Welcome to Stencil-a-Palooza! Several days a week for the next month or so I'll be featuring one of my eighteen stencil designs for The Crafter's Workshop! Each post comes with a giveaway. Leave a comment answering the question-of-the-day and you might be the winner of that day's featured stencil in both 6x6 and 12x12! Comments will remain open on this post for seventy-two hours. The winner will be announced after that. In the meantime, if you'd like to purchase any of the stencils there are many in-person and online shops to choose from. See a complete list here. Today I've... Read more →

What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving? Me, I have so very much to be grateful for. Even on my darkest days I am conscious of what a lucky, lucky life I lead and so very thankful that that's the case. One of the things that brings me joy every single day is this blog. And so today I say thank YOU for reading, thank YOU for leaving comments, thank YOU for writing to tell me how much you enjoy the blog. I am very grateful. And to say thank you, I've got a little gift for you: If you'd... Read more →

Every single time I use one of my Chevron Stamps, I get an e-mail asking where I bought it. I always direct people to the post I 'm sharing today, originally posted on October 27, 2010. Enjoy! I've been watching this girl use her new chevron stamp on everything. And it made me want one wicked bad! I could have paid the $28 for this kit (which contains the stamp) just to get the stamp, but it simply wasn't in the budget this month. I know that the stamp will be available in a few months, but I just couldn't... Read more →

I originally posted this tutorial on June 18, 2009. To this day it is one of my most popular posts. Enjoy! Want to learn how to make this awesomely cool flower? Well, read on! We get The New York Times delivered to our apartment every morning. And every night, it goes into the recycling bin. I wanted to find a way to use some of that newsprint! Here's what you'll need: Newspaper (Note: If you’re using these on something more permanent, like a scrapbook page, use pages from an old book because newspaper is NOT acid free.) Scissors Crop-o-Dile or... Read more →

I'm leaving for Germany and the Mixed Media Circus event today. When we planned it for Thanksgiving time, the original plan was for my husband to come along for the ride. Sadly, he has to stay behind as a very good friend of his is getting married. But sweet sweet Nat has offered to drag me around Hamburg and Berlin. And although we've known each other for a long time, we've never made art together in the same space. I'm kind of hoping to trade in a day of sightseeing for a day of art making. There's nothing quite like... Read more →

Today we have a guest post from Karen Grunberg all about her inspiring art journal journey and how she found her art journaling style. The first time I decided I wanted to keep an art journal was in 2007. I had... Read more →

It's funny how one little idea starts so many others rolling, isn't it? I was using this awesome alphabet banner stamp set from Kenner Road last night: (Sadly, it sold out way back in 2010.) In any case, I was using it and I was wishing that the banners were larger. And then I realized that wishes can come true! Sort of. I started by carving one little banner stamp -- with an empty middle so I could fill it in with whatever letter stamp I wanted like so: But I just couldn't stop at one. Here are some of... Read more →
