Fact: Cloth Paper Scissors makes super cool e-mags. Question: What is an e-mag? Answer: It's an electronic magazine. Electronic magazines come in many forms. Some are .pdfs. Some use special software. Some are an exact replica of a paper magazine. Today I want to talk about a new e-mag called "Art Journaling Exposed." Question: What makes this e-mag super duper cool? Answer: I'm so glad that you asked! Here are just a few things that make "Art Journaling Exposed" awesomely terrific: I'm in it! :) There is no paper version of this e-mag. It is purely electronic only! You can... Read more →

Welcome to Soup Week! What the heck is Soup Week? Well it's not about the kind of soup you eat, rather we'll be celebrating the TV show Scrapbook Soup! I host Scrapbook Soup with long time Scrapbook Memories TV host, Julie McGuffee. It's the Julie-Julie show! Here is a photo of us on set: My Mother says that I wear too much makeup on the show and look like I'm 100 years old. She's been harrassing me about it for months. Today I want to talk to you about my sweet, talented, energetic, and generous friend Ronda Palazzari. Here are just a few of the beautiful projects from her blog: Ronda and her family live outside of Denver, Colorado. And as you might be able to guess from the photo above, Ronda has just written a book called "Art of Layers." Here is F&W media’s description of the book: “Basic scrapbooking has you place photos and embellishments on cardstock or patterned paper - easy and...well, basic. The next step for most scrapbookers is layering. But trying to get that rich, interesting... Read more →

I'm currently taking a class at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) called "Experimental Printmaking." It's taught by a mixed media artist named Katerina Lanfranco. It's an eight-week class and each Monday we meet to make art and spend time in the galleries. We are four weeks into class and I thought I'd share some thoughts about the experience. 1. This class hits all the marks. I love taking classes. Being a student is one of life's great luxuries. And I try to take advantage of it by taking classes all the time -- some in-person and some online, but... Read more →

Alisa Burke recently posted about how much creativity you can find in a box of crayons. I admire how she always does totally amazing things with really simple supplies. Inspired by her post I sat down to play a little bit with one of my favorite techniques: crayon resist (one of the thirty techniques in my Technique-a-Palooza: paint & ink online class & used on fabric in my It's Sew Easy online class). I started with a white crayon and a sheet of white watercolor paper. I scribbled across the page with the white crayon and then started to apply... Read more →
