Art Journal Every Day: Fast Forward with Cuchy
March 30, 2012
If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, all the posts can be found here. Please read this post first. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
First of all, I want to thank you for all of the amazing comments on last week's Art Journal Every Day post. What a wealth of knowledge you are. Thank you for generously sharing your best tips!
I've had some lovely guests share their art journaling process through a fast forward video. Today is our final guest in the series: M. Carmen Sanchez (Cuchy).
Q: How long have you been art journaling?
A: I've always loved to express myself, writing, painting, talking, singing... whatever. And I keep diaries in any form from my teens years. I discovered art journaling three years ago while looking for digital brushes for photoshop. I don't know how, but I found Dina Wakley's blog and realized that I could still write my journals but in a different, more visual and colourful way. Now I cannot give up.
Q: Why do you art journal?
A: To vent my feelings, to record my own story, or just for fun, no matter if it is right or not. It depends how I feel each moment.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in your art journal?
A: To play with the backgrounds and textures. I need to touch and feel what I'm doing. I usually have 2 or 3 pages ongoing to experiment with techniques and new uses of my favourite supplies.
Supplies:
I have linked to all of the specific supplies that I could find. Here are the additional supplies Cuchy used: old book pages, and transparent tape. The specific PanPastel colors are: permanent red, yellow ochre, hansa yellow, and magenta. The specific EcoGreen Crafts Paint colors are: orange, pomegranate, and blue sky.
And here's a look at Cuchy's beautiful page:
I love all of Cuchy's color and texture! And I love how she used the stencil too!
Here is the linky list for you to show off your own art journaling from the week:
Thanks for stopping by!
I'm M. Carmen, but nobody but my mother, call me M. Carmen. So you can call me Cuchy. Here you have some hidden facts about me:
- I studied music and piano and now I only "play it" when I clean it.
- I had 0 points in an exam when I was in the university. The teacher happened to be my future sister in law. (Imagine the family gatherings at that time...)
- I love chocolate and diet coke.
- I slept in the street several times queueing to get an opera ticket.
- I love bright colours, but I usually wear black and dark .
- I usually tell what I'm thinking. That caused me more than one problem.
- I can roll my tongue in a wave shape.
- My family is my life .
Put these little things together and you get a messy, curious, cheerful, daydreamer, demanding, stubborn, thankful, passionate about anything creative, and happy girl, and I like it :)
Thanks so much Julie, for having me in your blog. It's such an honour and always a pleasure.
