No More Google Reader

I don't know about you, but I love reading blogs.  I subscribe to more than 100 blogs at the moment.  And I keep track of all of them through Google Reader.  Unfortunately, Google is shutting Reader down on July 1.  Bummer.

Like so many other people, I went searching for a replacement.  I tried bloglovin and feedly, bothy highly recommended.  They are very slick and cool, with more of a Pinterest feel.  Highly visual.  But they don't work for the way I consume blogs.  You see, I don't read all 100 blogs every day.  I tend to check in with Google Reader a few times a week, and many times I simply scroll through, digesting the photos more than any text.  Bloglovin and feedly both force you to look at a single post at a time.  That doesn't work for me.

Luckily, I discovered The Old Reader.

It's not remotely fancy and it doesn't even have all the bells and whistles that Google Reader has (which are few and far between), but the interface is almost exactly like Google Reader.  It allows me to quickly scroll through the content and I love that!

If you're looking for a new RSS reader, I highly recommend The Old Reader.  I've been using it for a few weeks now and it's working for me.  I was also able to easily import all of my subscriptions from Google Reader.  Yay!

Of course the easiest way to make sure you don't miss anything Balzer Designs is to subscribe to this blog via e-mail.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!
