I collect jewelry the way some women collect shoes. I love to make jewelry. I love to buy jewelry. I love to wear jewelry. And I adore *giant* statement necklaces. Here are five amazing necklaces that I ran across on Pinterest. source source source source source I can't decide whether these images are urging me to make a necklace or wear one. Perhaps I can do both? :) Thanks for stopping by! Read more →

I have to admit that my right hand is in bad shape. Ever since I figured out how to make these dimensional paper cut cards I can't stop making them! It all started because my friend Cheryl received this laser cut birthday card: I saw it and thought, I can do that! I snapped this iPhone photo and started cutting. I think they look super amazing. And I'm loving the brain tease of designing them! Thanks for stopping by! Read more →

I would guess that about 90% of the photos I take are taken with my iPhone. These are the photos that end up here on my blog, in my Project Life album, and on my scrapbook pages. Today I thought I'd share my favorite iPhone photo apps with you! instagram This is a photo sharing app, and I am totally addicted! Instagram makes it super easy to share your own photos and see the photos of your friends. You can take a photo inside of the app or import a photo from your camera roll into the app. If you... A while ago I pinned a super cool looking watercolor portrait tutorial. Recently I noticed that Kristin Dudish had tried it out with great results. So, I decided to try it out too! I put mine in frames and I love how they look all together! Here's a peek at each one by itself: I gave the first three to my Mom for Mother's Day... ...and the last one to my friend, Riv (who is in the photo with me). And yes, they both loved them! :) Give the tutorial a try and see for yourself how very easy it... Read more →

On Thursday I filmed two new DVDs for Interweave! We filmed in my Mom's kitchen. There were three cameras and lots of fancy lights. Definitely puts my little home made videos to shame. It's always a lot of work to put the videos together -- really, the packing of supplies is nightmarish. But the crew and the overall experience always make it so worthwhile! I was very grateful for the "Look Here" sign. Without it, I'm pretty sure I would have messed up and looked into the wrong camera. I have to confess that even after years of making videos... I've always had a couple of hooks in the wall, right by the door, for keys. For me, it's the only thing that guarantees that I don't forget them and lock myself out. I decided to "pretty up" the key area with a painted and collaged wood canvas. I wrapped the design around the sides of the canvas. I tried to keep the coloring fairly neutral and the styling very distressed and aged. The hooks at the bottom of the canvas are simply picture hooks from the hardware store. Perfect for keys and easy to hammer into the wood canvas!... Read more →

Gosh, I got so many questions about exactly how I mounted my collages in this post, so I decided to do a quick tutorial. You will need: Gel Medium Palette Knife Matte Medium Paintbrush Collage Materials & Paint Finished Collage Something Heavy (I used a bench block) Wood Canvas (the same size as your finished collage) Brayer Deli Paper or Wax Paper Paper Towel or a Rag STEP ONE: Collage the Edges Collage the edges of your wood canvas. Where possible use the same colors and papers to create a seamless look. I added black paint along one edge. Note:... Read more →
