The Weekend Five: Dinner at Danji

One of the many reasons that I love living in New York City is the food.  It is so good, people!  There is a tiny little restaurant in my neighborhood that has quickly become one of my faves, called Danji.  It opened back in 2011 and I think we were some of the first customers to try it out.  Soon after, the reviews came in and they were stellar.  Danji even received a Michelin Star!  It's Korean fusion served as little plates, tapas style.  I've never had a bad meal there.  Friday night was no exception.  We had an amazing evening of absolutely delicious food.  Here are five photos of what we ate:

Tofu-wm
I don't care if you think tofu is food created by the devil, you are guaranteed to like this tofu.  It's smooth as silk, almost like eating baby mozzarella cheese.  And the sauce and other flavors combine to make it heavenly.

Yellowtail-wm
It's the spicy sriracha that really makes this yellowtail stand out.

Calamari-wm
Fried calamari is always tasty.  This was my first time having it at Danji.  They manage to fry so that it's almost chewy instead of dry and flaky and it's wonderful!

Bossam-wm
This is the "Bossam" and it is melt-in-your mouth delicious!  You take one of the cabbage leaves (bottom left) and wrap up a slice of pork belly, some kimchi, and some of the scallions from under the pork belly.  Perfection!

Bulgogisliders-wm
Each time I go to Danji I think, the Bulgogi Sliders can't possibly be as good as I remember.  Oh, baby!  They're just incredible.  A tiny buttered brioche bun makes these delicious little treats even better!
