I'm trying to work on abstracts. I stink at them at the moment. That's just not how my brain works. But, I want to be better. And the only way to get better is to practice and fail and practice and fail and practice until you finally succeed. So here is a canvas (it's a large one: 30x30) where I was practicing: I don't love it. I don't hate it. It just doesn't feel very "me" at all. I'm going to keep practicing, trying to find my voice. What is something you're practicing at the moment? Thanks for stopping by! Read more →
This weekend my Mom and I... ...set out on an adventure! We went on a Lower East Side Gallery Tour. It was a really interesting event put together by the Brown Club of New York (I'm a Brown graduate). We met up with a small group on the Lower East Side to explore a number of galleries. The Lower East Side is kind of a new area for galleries and many of the galleries that are there represent emerging artists rather than established ones. Quite exciting! At each of the galleries the gallerist gave us a quick talk about the... Read more →

I had a long phone call with my Mom yesterday. It afforded me a bit of creative time. I put her on speaker phone and started carving and printing. This is the stamp I made: And here's what it looks like printed in black and white: And in color: It's amazing what a difference color makes! It really defines the design in a totally different way.
