My HSN Experience
March 27, 2014
I'm back from Florida! HSN was a fascinating experience. You're not really allowed to take photos, so I don't have a lot of those to share. But I still wanted to tell you all about it!
On Friday I attended new guest training.
It was really interesting to learn about HSN and who their customer is. And, of course, I appreciated all the tips on being a successful guest.
Before heading to Florida I made five projects using the ScanNCut.
I used the drawing function to create custom fabric that I stitched into a little zippered pouch.
I also made a no-sew home decor project. I cut a handwritten phrase out of fabric (with iron on fusible on the back) and simply stuck it in an embroidery hoop:
I played around with the sizing of my handwriting and cut it out of a few different materials...
In the end, I used that phrase on a scrapbook page!
I also made some super cool layered flowers and splashed watercolor paint all over them.
Sticking with the flower theme, I used the built-in scanner in the ScanNCut to "see" the edge of several ready-made cards and transform them!
Finally, I put together a shiny gold canvas.
Not all of the projects made it on air. When we were setting up the table, we had to do some editing.
Here's a peek of what it looked like on set:
And Susan tweeted a photo of her TV screen!
Super fun to see!
I did three short segments on the ScanNCut throughout the day -- 1:30am, 7am and 10:30pm. The lack of sleep was tough. But the super glamour makeovers definitely made it so you couldn't tell how tired I was!
I had a slightly different hair/makeup look for each of the three airings -- mostly due to three different makeup/hair artists.
The hair and makeup thing is like playing dress up! But the real fun is going on air! What a rush the whole live TV thing is. You've got to keep in mind what you're doing, what the host is saying, what the director is saying in your ear, which camera you're supposed to be looking at, and how much time you have left. Oy. That's a lot. Each of the segments went by way too fast for me. Each time I seemed to miss saying something or showing something! But, man-oh-man, was it fun!
Thank you so much to everyone who watched! I really appreciate the outpouring of support and kind comments on Facebook, twitter, and instagram! Thank you thank you thank you!
And now I'm ready to sleep for a week....
Thanks for stopping by!
