Art Journal Every Day: Some May & June Dailies
August 15, 2014
If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
I haven't shared any daily journal pages in a while. I'm keeping the pages for my "30 Days in Your Junque Journal" under wraps and for students eyes only. But now I'm far enough past those pages to start sharing with you again! So here are some pages from May & June 2014!
I was on the road when I created this spread. I had a black pen, white pen, black ink pad, and some hand carved stamps with me.
I filled in the colored lettering when I got home several days later. I always work in my journal in stages. Some days I'm working on pages that are almost totally filled and other days I'm working back into very plain pages. It all depends on how much time I have. In order to Art Journal Every Day, it has to fit into your life!
As you can see, keeping it simple with hand carved stamps and journaling.
I had some time in the hotel room, so I got some extreme doodling done.
I love high contrast when it comes to colors -- obviously! Also note the huge gap between journaling entries. We go from May 13 on the previous page to May 30 on this page. Life gets in the way sometimes and that's okay. I always say that the goal is to art journal every day, but if I don't make it it's okay. I just get back into my journal as soon as I can. I never want it to feel like a burden. So when it does, I stop for a while, but I always come back to it!
A little bit of hand lettering to indicate the month.
This is a stencil I made in my Authentic Stencils class. I don't always love the demos I do for class, but this one made my heart go pitter patter!
I love to incorporate the flotsam and jetsam from my life. This is a Dove chocolate wrapper with some good advice. ;)
Some days I've got a lot to say and my journaling takes up the entire two-page spread!
I love all the layers in my art journal. It's impossible to communicate the look and feel of the pages through a photograph, but you can kind of get a sense of it when you see all of these layers.
Here is this week's linky list:
