Art Journal Every Day: July & August Dailies

ArtJournalEveryDayLogo-150If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  There is a flickr group for sharing right here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it.  If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post.  Thanks!

I definitely go through phases in my art journal - times when I spend hours each day and times when my journal is lucky to get 10 minutes every few days.  What's interesting is that I find when I don't art journal I start to get antsy.  It doesn't matter if I'm making tons of other art, there's something about my art journal that is extremely calming to me.  I don't know if it's because I dump my problems onto its pages?  Or because it's something that I really do "just for me?"  Whatever the reason, I love my art journal!  I need it to be happy.

Today I'm sharing some daily pages from July and August 2014.

1-YellowPage-wm

I've been in a yellow mood lately.  I've noticed that a number of my journal pages have been splashed with yellow paint.  Perhaps it's the fact that it's summer?

The woman is by Matisse.  I doodled across the background to add my own flair to his image.  Still obsessed with my Moonlight pens!  They are wonderfully opaque and bright!  The white is my beloved white Sharpie, extra fine point!

I love the way this face turned out!  I used my Three-Quarter stencil to create it.  (As a side note, I am teaching my "Stenciled Face" workshop at A Work of Heart in San Jose on January 3, 2015.)

2-PurplePatternedGirl-wm

This page turned out better than I expected.  There was a very vibrant pattern across most of the page and I dithered around forever before deciding to paint a face across it.  I'm so glad that I did!  I love the way it turned out!

This is half of a stamped image (from a hand carved stamp) on deli paper. I temporarily taped it into my journal with washi tape in order to see if I liked it there and wanted to permanently adhere it.  Somehow the washi tape never came off....

I will always be a doodler and a space filler.  I can't help myself.  I can never leave well enough alone!

When I bound this piece of paper into my junque journal it had a square hole in it.  I had cut something out of it at some point.  So I left the hole.  It serves no purpose, but I think it's cool.

There's that yellow again!  I'm loving it right now!

Mostly playing around with lettering here.  And by the way, I know they say it's good luck when a bird poops on you.  Definitely doesn't feel that way....

Here's the hole from the other side.

That's Gelli print stenciled deli paper in that circle.  One of my favorite stencils too!  It's called "Fifties Clock."

I hope you enjoyed the peek into my daily pages.  Here is this week's linky list:
