Curtains for My Brother

My Brother asked me to make him some curtains for his apartment.  He needed them to be blackout curtains so that his bedroom would be as dark as possible at night.  So, we went shopping for fabric -- he chose two cloud fabrics and a blue Japanese print.  I picked out some grey flannel wool to back the curtains.  We went back and forth about the design.  He wanted a single panel curtain with a tab top that he could simply push to one side.  We debated where the dark blue Japanese fabric should go.  There was even some additional discussion and a volley of phone photos once I actually started stitching.  Here are the results:

Simple (though time consuming to make) and they do the job!  As a side note, the flannel wool makes the curtains very warm.  Along with the light, they block a lot of wind from those old drafty windows.  Win-win!  Isn't it nice when practicality and crafty skills come together?
