Art Journal Every Day: Sketches From The Beginning of 2015
February 27, 2015
If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
Today I'm sharing pages from my sketchbook (i.e. my travel journal) from the beginning of 2015. I enjoy the change of pace and not always journaling in the same way. In fact, even within my sketchbook I create in many different styles!
These birds were inspired by Anika Starmer's beautiful work.
I abandoned this one in a sort of half-finished state. Some sketches are just like that.
If I were to classify this as a style, I would call it "insane doodling." And my brother would probably agree. He leaned over to me on the flight and said, "Doesn't drawing each of those little dots make you want to punch yourself in the face?" He looked surprised when I told him that I find it relaxing.
This looks kind of funny. Just turn it to the right....
Sometimes a subject calls for a vertical drawing rather than a horizontal one.
These little patterns are the reason that I decided to do #28patterns. I was reminded of how fun and easy creating patterns is!
I employed some of my favorite sparkly Sakura gel pens for this one. The glitter seemed appropriate for Vegas!
This is going to sound weird, but I was actually impressed with myself that I was able to draw the label on this bottle. I didn't think I was going to be able to, but I simply attacked it bit by bit and I love how it turned out!
So there you have it, a peek into my sketchbook. Which sketch is your favorite and why?
Here is this week's linky list:
