Art Journal Every Day: A Black & White Page!

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Art Journal Every DayIf you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  There is a flickr group for sharing right here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it.  If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post.  Thanks!

Every now and then I'll paint a page in my journal black.  More often than not, that black page ends up being one of my favorites.  Funny for a girl who loves color.  But as you know, I've been struggling to find my art journal mojo and so a black page seemed like a good idea to shake things up!  This page turned out better than I imagined when I started.  Love it when that happens!  Take a peek:

The face was created using a technique I share in my online class, Getting Started with Neocolor II.

Lots of hand carved stamps and white embossing powder.  By the way, this is what it looks like when you accidentally touch the embossing powder before it has cooled down and hardened:

Ooops!

Have you tried a black background in your art journal?  What did you think?

Unfortunately, there is no linky list this week because typepad (my blog host) and inlinkz (host of the linky list) are not playing nicely together and keep crashing.  I'm hoping the problem will be resolved by next week.  In the meantime, feel free to leave a link to your art journaling for the week in the comments section.  It won't be as pretty, but it will get the job done.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!
