November 2015 posts

You guys! I'm super duper excited and elated to share that I have teamed up with the fabulous Canadian company, Art Foamies! This is a story of why the internet is awesome. A while ago I bought some Art Foamies and did a video review of them. Emmie from Art Foamies saw the video and reached out to me. We started chatting and a collaboration was born! Watch the video below for a quick overview of why I love my Art Foamies: I currently have twelve designs up for sale with more coming soon! Eyes: Triangle Lashes Me-O-My Pair of... Read more →

My Mom's friend Laurie recently bought a ScanNCut 2 from HSN. So Mom volunteered me to go over to Laurie's house and give her some tips and pointers to help make her into a ScanNCut expert! I was happy to oblige and I figured I'd pass the tips I shared on to you too! Tip One: Learning happens best when surrounded by yummy food! Laurie made homemade pizzas and a fabulous bean dip that we munched on all night. Definitely helped our concentration! Tip Two: Learn the difference between "Scan to Cut Data" and "Direct Cut." In the photo above... Read more →

Here is the final installment of my Quilt Festival 2015 photos. I hope you find something to inspire you! I don't know what you found inspiring, but here are some of the things that I'm taking away from Quilt Festival: Buttons and beads are awesome. I loved the quilts that used embellishments. Perfectly square quilts are not necessarily the norm. I was thrilled to see so many quilts with wavy, wonky, decorative, and curved edges! Thoughtful design goes all the way down to the details. The quilts I was most impressed with improved with continued viewing. It may have been... Read more →

The quilt journey continues! If you're feeling inspired to start quilting may I suggest you find your local quilt guild. One of the first things I did when I moved to the Boston area was join my local guild. A google search should bring up the possibilities in your neighborhood. Also, the Modern Quilt Guild has many branches all across the world and SAQA exists online. If there's nothing near you, may I suggest my all time favorite quilting instruction book. And now without any further ado, some more eye candy.... Are you overwhelmed with all the amazing color, texture,... Read more →

I was lucky enough to attend Quilt Festival again this year. I spent most of my time in the ScanNCut booth doing demos and answering questions. But when I could, I snuck out to go and visit the quilts. I took more than 1000 photos of the amazing quilts that were there. And I didn't even take pictures of everything! That's how many quilts there were!!! I was completely overwhelmed by the talent, creativity, ingenuity, skill, and dedication of the quilters and their artwork. Like paintings, quilts are so very different in real life. Scale and texture just don't translate... Read more →

What a different view I have out of my window these days! I stare at grass and trees instead of concrete and glass. I still don't have my own backyard, but my apartment complex has a little nature walk on the edge of it. Here are five photos from that nature walk: Totally spectacular nature! I'm looking forward to discovering how this new environment influences my artwork! Hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by! Read more →

When Intel offered to send me an HP Envy 15 M6, I was excited but nervous. I have never owned a PC. I learned to use a computer by using a Mac and I've never owned anything other than Macs. The few times I've had to use a PC I've felt awkward and confused. But I like exploring new technology, so I figured I'd give it a go. When the box arrived in the mail, I opened it up and started to set up the computer. I'll even admit that I didn't read the Quick Start Guide. I simply plugged... Read more →
