Quilt Festival 2015: Part Three

Here is the final installment of my Quilt Festival 2015 photos.  I hope you find something to inspire you!

I don't know what you found inspiring, but here are some of the things that I'm taking away from Quilt Festival:

• Buttons and beads are awesome.  I loved the quilts that used embellishments.
• Perfectly square quilts are not necessarily the norm.  I was thrilled to see so many quilts with wavy, wonky, decorative, and curved edges!
• Thoughtful design goes all the way down to the details.  The quilts I was most impressed with improved with continued viewing.  It may have been the initial image that pulled me in, but they all had thoughtful details that added to the overall effect.
• Innovative classics are so cool.  There were a lot of classic quilt designs that people made fresh again through color, pattern, scale, etc.  I was particularly enamored with an exhibit of double wedding ring pattern quilts.  The same pattern over and over again with such different results!
• I'm not going to say big is better, but big is impactful.  In my painting and collage work I've started to work larger.  Large scale work allows for so much more play than small scale work.  I really loved standing in front of the huge quilts.  They were incredibly powerful.
