Art Journal Every Day: Pages from March/April 2016
June 24, 2016
If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.
I've got a bunch of daily art journal pages for you today.
This first page has one of my all time favorite faces I've ever drawn. I can't quite put my finger on why I love it so much. Perhaps it's the scale? The colors? The details? Those big front teeth? I'm not sure, but I just love it. And when I create something that I love it makes me think that I need to analyze it and keep working in that direction. One thought that I have is that it's color blocked slightly differently from my normal faces. I might try being a little less symmetrical in the future....
I love its imperfection.
This next page is one of my "prettiest" pages ever. It has a kind of feminine watercolor feeling in my opinion.
For the effect below, I used my Mumsy stencil -- stenciled with paint first and then traced with a black pen.
This is the Doodle Leaf Balzer Bit -- both the negative and the positive:
To create this face I outlined one of the faces from my 4 Faces stencil and then colored it with watercolor paints. I really like how it turned out!
I shared a video showing the background for this page coming together, many moons ago. This is how the final page turned out:
I love to work on my pages in stages over time. I thought I might cover up the background and do some journaling, but when it came time to paint over it, I just couldn't do it!
As you can see, I doodled over a magazine image with my beloved Moonlight Pens.
Thanks for stopping by!
