Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
June 20, 2016
Let's go to the museum, you guys! For this visit, my Dad and I spent a few hours at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. It's Isabella Stewart Gardner's grand home and all the art she collected during her lifetime is hanging or standing where she left it.
The house is built around a wonderful sun-filled courtyard.
The house is currently under repair, so only certain parts were open to us when we went.
In the modern addition to the museum (which hosts a library, lecture hall, restaurant, and exhibit space), they are currently showing the artwork which normally hangs in the part of the home that is currently being renovated. You can see from the photos above that the house is fairly dark and you can't get that close to much of the artwork. Therefore, this opportunity to see the paintings up close and personal couldn't be missed!
We had a delicious lunch in the restaurant. I thought the presentation of the food was quite artful -- not to mention, tasty!
Yum! The last time I was at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum was before the infamous painting heist back in 1990. It was nice to go back. I'm not going to let as much time pass before my next visit!
Thanks for stopping by!
