Happy Halloween! True confession: I have never before made cupcakes. I don't know how I made it through life without having to make them. I suppose it's because I don't have children and yummy cupcakes are simply a few blocks away at the bakery. Nonetheless, a friend asked me to make some cupcakes for a Halloween party and I said, "Of course." I then immediately headed to the internet to do some research. Cupcake recipe? Check! Thanks, Rachel Ray. Decoration inspiration? No problem. I saw these eyeball cupcakes on Pinterest and followed the link to the barefoot kitchen witch blog... Read more →

I recently taught two two-day weekday workshops at A Work of Heart in San Jose, CA. I always enjoy teaching there and have the great luck of encountering some super kind and generous students who keep my spirits high! Take a peek at the fun we had! First up, my Flip, Flaps & Fold Outs class that is all about creating a really cool art journal structure: And then my Magical Tape Bound Junque Journal class, which was super well stocked with Art Foamies! So many gorgeous journals were made in class! I hope you can tell from the photos... Read more →

This is one of those projects that didn't go exactly to plan. And that's okay. My original idea was to insert votive LED lights into these mason jars, but they didn't fit. So, I found a string of LED lights and inserted those inside, instead. This, of course, means that the jars are all chained together, as in the photo above, because it's a single string of lights shared between all the jars. I decided to try something different and fill the jars with stuff so that they could be separated. Then I placed the votive candles around them. Still... Read more →

Not going to lie, things are kind of a chaotic mess over here. Actually, take the "kind of" away and that sentence is 100% true. This is real life after two weeks away: mess everywhere, new supplies to organize, half-packed suitcases, laundry, piles of stuff on every surface. Let the good times roll! Tripods in the bathroom are totally normal, right?! Hope you're having a great day! If you'd like to see more behind-the-scenes mess, check out my weekly vlogs on YouTube. Thanks for stopping by! There was a comment on Friday asking me to repost the link to Life Book, so here it is: bit.ly/LifeBook2017 And now onto today's post: I wanted to share some of the art I saw while I was in Austin, TX. There was lots of cool street art to see everywhere! Take a peek: Perhaps one of the coolest public art displays was the Hope Outdoor Gallery: Pretty cool, right? And the good news is that you can get a license to paint and add your own art to the park! There's a great blog post HERE that tells you... Read more →

As promised, here is a closer look at the Terry Winters: The Structure of Things exhibit at the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) here in Boston. (A few weeks ago I shared a quick video peek at it in a vlog -- right around the 2:51 mark.) I am more and more obsessed with printmaking these days -- and dreaming of buying a small press. In the meantime, it's work like this -- the freedom in these prints -- that gets me excited. My brother recently asked me if I had ever thought of, "not using all the colors." I... Read more →
