Rivkah & Jason's Mixed Media Collage Ketubah
October 11, 2016
As you know, my friend Riv is getting married. She and her fiancee, Jason, asked me to make their ketubah for them. If you're unfamiliar with Jewish weddings, a ketubah is a Jewish wedding contract. It is often a beautiful decorative document. Here are some images of ketubahs that I found online -- traditional and modern:
Riv and Jason sent me dimensions, text, and these inspiration images -- noting that they liked the colors and abstract images (I only have sources for a few of these):
I took these inspiration images and did my best to filter them through my own personal style. I didn't want to copy them exactly, but I wanted to give Riv & Jason something they'd really love. This is what I came up with:
If you watched my vlog, you know that I struggled to find my way with this ketubah. I tried some new things and in the end I love the color drenched stained glass feeling of this piece. I'd like to explore more work in this style in the future!
I really hope that Rivkah and Jason love it as much as I do!
Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. Do you see the secret message I hid in the ketubah?
