100 Day Project Update: Faces 2 - 9
April 13, 2017
You guys, I'm having a really great time with the 100 Day Project! Every day I've been working on a face and posting a fast forwarded process video on instagram. I feel like this project has several really good things going for it that are going to make it possible for me to keep up for 100 days. Essentially, I'm delighted with the guidelines I created for myself. As a reminder:
- Use any method to create a face.
- Time limit: 15 minutes.
I really like the clarity of "create a face." I don't even have to think about what I'm going to draw. It's a face, of course. And then the "use any method" part is enormously exciting because I can just grab whatever is nearest to me and make it happen.
I find the short time limit deeply empowering. It's allowing me to leave things unfinished. It's forcing me to make quicker decisions. It is both limiting and freeing at the same time. Perfect.
In fact, I'd say that the tension of limiting and freeing is really perfectly balanced for me right now. There are strict enough guidelines to give me clarity of purpose, but loose enough boundaries that I think I won't get bored by day 100. Of course, only time will tell.
Here are faces 2-9:
And, because so many of you asked, all of the 100 faces from this project will be for sale. I decided to make all of them the same price: $45. Free shipping in the U.S. International buyers add $10 for shipping. You can make your purchases HERE.
If you want to see the process videos, you can check them out on instagram or I've embedded them in this week's Julie's World Vlog:
How is your 100 Day Project going? Are you loving your topic like I am?
