A Visit to MoMA

As you know, I spent two days at MoMA when I was last in NYC. I thought I'd share a few more photos from that visit.  Enjoy!

I am currently struggling with two canvases at the moment (you can take a peek at them on my instagram account).  Looking back at these photos I am reminded of how hard art is sometimes.  I mean, standing in the museum looking at the canvases I am often dismissive: "Oh, that's stupid."  "I could do that."  "That's not art."  "That's ugly."  But when I really look at these photos and study the details I can see how much time and effort is invested in every little inch -- all of the decisions, all of the agonizing, all of the training, all of the thought, all of the angst, all of the hope, all of it.  And though I am struggling with my own work at the moment, I find deep satisfaction in looking at these photos and realizing that I'm part of a very long timeline -- a very large community -- of men and women all of the world who have and who are having the same conversation of hope and despair with a piece of art we're creating.  Do you feel the same way?

Thanks for stopping by!
