Art Journal Every Day: Lace Pages
May 05, 2017
If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.
Sometimes I like to get crazy with a craft knife. I get kind of obsessed and spend a few hours with a craft knife and a self-healing mat and my art journal and lace pages are the wonderful result!
Check them out (and yes, everything you see was HAND CUT). You can do it too!
I mixed letter stickers with some pen "shadows" to make them really pop off the busy background.
To cut lace pages, simply slide a self-healing mat into your art journal and underneath the page you'd like to cut. Then start cutting with a craft knife -- starting at the side furthest from the spine. Slowly work your way towards the spine. That's it. Nothing fancy. No special tricks. Just simple cutting over and over and over.
I hope you'll give it a try!
Thanks for stopping by!
