Adventures in Arting Podcast: On The Road Again
Three Classes at WhimSoDoodle

Sewing Training in NJ

Last month I spent three days at Brother Headquarters in New Jersey, exploring three new-to-me machines:

The DZ-3000 Sewing & Quilting Machine:

DZ3000
It's being sold with a circular sewing attachment, which makes these cool concentric circles easy:

And it has a couching foot that allows you to add yarn and other decorative elements:

Even stitching decoratively on top of ribbon:

The Strong & Tough Serger:

I don't sew clothing.  It's a goal, but I'm not there yet.  However, I discovered that you can make lots of other things with a serger!  We made roses:

And this tote bag came together in less than 5 minutes:

And I did make myself this very fetching headband from a leftover scrap of a t-shirt:

Like I said, I'm working my way towards wearables.... ;)

Last but not least, the LB-7000 Sewing & Embroidery Machine:

LB7000I love this machine.  The embroidery is easy to do.

Plus, check out the cool embroidery lace you can make!

You say Christmas Tree ornaments, I say earrings.  Let's agree to disagree!  ;)

As a side note, I took the LB 7000 machine with me to my Boston Modern Quilt Guild retreat this weekend and stitched an entire quilt from start to finish on it -- without ever using the foot pedal.  It was great.  I have to get a good photo of the finished quilt and then I'll share, but you can see a sneak peek of it in pieces on my instagram here.

Tune into HSN tomorrow (Wednesday, March 21) online or on your TV.

  • During the 7am hour, I'll be demonstrating the DZ3000 (with the circular attachment) and the ScanNCut.
  • During the 12pm hour, I'll be demonstrating the Strong & Tough Serger, the LB 7000 sewing & embroidery, and the ScanNCut -- If you've ever wanted to spend an hour with me, this is your chance!
  • During the 3pm hour, I'll be demonstrating the LB 7000 sewing and embroidery again!

Thanks for stopping by!
