#100daysofArtTweets: Days 51-68

Header-sm
As I mentioned yesterday, I'm doing The 100 Day Project.  The conceit behind the project is simple: one action every day for 100 days.  My action is #100daysofArtTweets.  I'm posting original art content to twitter every day for 100 days.  There's a lot to catch you guys up on, so I'm splitting my tweets into two blog posts.  Today is days 51-68:

Observations:

  • You guys, I took your advice!  I missed a day and so you'll see that there are two tweets on another day and you know what?  It doesn't matter!  There will be 100 tweets by the end!  Yay!
  • I've been thinking about the purpose of the 100 day project.  I liked this explanation from The Great Discontent:
    • "What Is the 100-Day Project? It's a celebration of process that encourages everyone to participate in 100 days of making. The great surrender is the process; showing up day after day is the goal. For the 100-Day Project, it's not about fetishizing finished products—it's about the process."
    • That notion of **process** seems right in line with letting go of the fetishization of "every day."  Most days is good enough.
  • I've been thinking about what the purpose of the 100 day project is for me.  If memory serves me, when I set out on this project, I wanted to learn more about how twitter works -- a platform I feel uncomfortable on -- AND generate more original art content.
    • As for the first goal, I do feel a bit more comfortable with how it works.  But it's mostly still a mystery to me and maybe that's okay.  Maybe part of this project will be the discovery that it's okay if some platforms don't work for you and others do?
    • As for the second goal, I do feel that I am generating more original art content.  I am putting into words (and pictures) things I normally would just observe or think about and not make tangible.  I am curious to find out how much of this kind of behavior will stick and what will get lost after the project is over.
  • I am officially 2/3 of the way through the project and feeling like I'm learning things.  Not really growing artistically per se, but maybe that's okay.
  • After yesterday's chat about 1 second videos, I did put one together for June thus far.  It's 11 seconds long and you can see it HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!
