Art Journal Every Day: More January 2018 Pages

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Art Journal Every Day #artjournal #artjournaleveryday

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

This particular art journal filled pretty quickly because there are a lot of pages that have no journaling.  If I didn't journal, I think I could fill my journals at about 4x the rate I currently do.  Maybe.  Who knows?  Big talk.  Maybe I should try it?  Anyway, all that is to say that this week I'm sharing three pages and two of them have no journaling.

This page features a photograph.  I go through phases with using photographs in my journal.  Usually I don't print a photo specifically to go in my journal.  Rather it's a random print leftover from another project -- that's the case with this one.

I did a bit of pattern doodling to create a divide between the days of journaling.

You can see that this is another shaped page!  The flower prints felt like they needed some containment, so out came the scissors!

And here's the other side of that cut.  Can you tell what this surface is?

It's a manila envelope!

My original plan was to journal all over the pink background, but it was so pretty and mottled...I just couldn't bring myself to do it.  It definitely doesn't look as cool in photos, but in person I swoon over this spread!

All the stenciling was done with modeling paste and I just looooooove the way it looks.  If you've never tried out modeling paste, it's time!  (If you're looking for a modeling paste tutorial, last summer Suzanne did this one!)

Hope you get some art journal play time in this weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!
