I had some ugly papers -- experiments that didn't go well. So I decided to throw them up on my painting wall and see what happened. Watch this short video for a time lapse peek at the process:
I love the painting wall in my studio (it's just insulation board nailed to the wall) but it can be difficult to really "see" the work. This is what it looked like at the end of my painting session:
I'm really pleased with how these pieces turned out. I have always struggled with abstract work, but lately I feel like I'm hitting a groove. I think it's a combination of studying notan and looking at a lot more abstract work. I don't think I'll ever stop drawing figures, but it's easier to cheat good design when you have a face. I'm enjoying the challenge of these little pieces!
