#CarveDecember 2018: Days 28-31

CarveDecemberPrompts-500
I can't believe it's almost the end of February.  Where does the time go?  Today -- at long last -- I'm sharing the last few days of the #CarveDecember fun with you -- days 28, 29, 30 & 31.

The prompt on day 28 was "asymmetrical."  This was my interpretation:

And here are some other interpretations of the word, "asymmetrical."

The prompt for day 29 was "hexagon."  This is my interpretation:

Some thoughts to wrap up another year of this project:

  • December is the worst month to do this in many ways.  It's so busy and time just disappears.  Plus there's usually travel involved with the holidays.  And yet, I firmly maintain that December is the best month to do this project.  If you can complete a daily art challenge during the craziness of the holidays, you can do it any time of the year.  Plus, it's a great way to head into a new year with lots of new ideas.
  • Speaking of daily projects, they only seem insane until you give it a try.  I've always said that I don't have time to read, but by trading out my phone for a book, I've already finished reading 7 books this year.  If you think you don't have time for a daily art challenge, you might be surprised by where you can find that time!
  • I really shocked myself by enjoying the prompts.  I didn't enjoy every prompt.  But, I definitely carved stamps I wouldn't have carved otherwise.  I definitely pushed myself out of my comfort zone more than I would have otherwise.  I think I will do that again.
  • Doing #PrintInktober was actually a great runway into carving stamps.  Logic says that maybe I should have done it the other way around: carve all the stamps and then print them lots of different ways.  BUT, printing actually gave me lots of ideas for carving.  It turns out to truly be a two-way street in terms of inspiration.  Isn't that nice?
  • As always, the best part of the project -- and why I have been sharing so much work by other people -- is the other people.  The talent in the world is amazing.  And I loved seeing people remarking on how they were inspired to carve a particular stamp based on what someone else had done.  The internet can be such a great way to connect with other folks and share ideas.  I love that!

So, another year in the books.  If you have #CarveDecember thoughts, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks for stopping by!
