Two Classes at The Ink Pad in NYC

I'm so excited to be teaching two NEW classes at The Ink Pad in NYC on June 22 and 23.

Are you interested in developing your artistic voice? Part of having a clear artistic voice is having a distinctive library of personal images. “Personal images” sounds rather fancy, but all it really connotes is a collection of images or shapes or marks that you enjoy using over and over. This class is all about exploring your personal mark making vocabulary. Through a series of simple exercises, I will help you to determine which marks excite you the most. During class we will work on expanding these simple shapes into complex compositions and even make our own stencils and stamps that reflect your unique marks. You will leave class with a collection of brand new art tools to make meaningful art that reflects who you are as an artist.

Students attending Sunday’s “Composed Prints” class are encouraged to bring the stencils and stamps they make in this class to that one.

Monoprinting is a fun and relaxing art form. Come and learn how to create beautiful finished works of art when monoprinting. We’re not making collage papers or backgrounds. We are making finished works of art solely on a gelatin plate. In class I will share my tips about color, opacity, and composition, along with how to register your prints so they line up layer after layer after layer. You will learn how to work from back to front, incorporating masking and stenciling, along with color theory and design. This is a fun and fast-paced class sure to excite students of all types.

Students who take Saturday’s “Marking Making” class are encouraged to bring their homemade stencils and stamps to this class.

If you're interested in coming to class, you can register on The Ink Pad's website or call the store at 212-463-9876.

I hope to see you in class!
