It's $4.99/month to join and you get immediate access to all previous videos as well. Hope you'll become a member! Now, onto today's post: ---- Recently I made two collages. I don't really like either of them. And that's okay. It's okay because: I enjoyed making them. Art making isn't just about the product. For me, the process has to be enjoyable, or what's the point in doing it? I learned some things. I'm a... Read more →

Hello, friends! Here's a little bit about life right now: What are you wearing? Short sleeves! Well, not at the moment. But we spent a week in Hawaii this month where my baby got to meet his cousin -- who is just 7 weeks older than he is. What have you bought? On my last "Around Here" post, I mentioned that we were headed to Hawaii and someone recommend UV Skinz for the baby. I ordered some and they were great! Super cute and really functional. So good, in fact, that my brother asked to permanently borrow one of them... Read more →

First, a reminder: I am offering a FREE livestream on YouTube on Saturday (January 25) at 4pm EST. We will cover some of my favorite stencil techniques and all of the new designs! I hope you'll tune in! Until then, I made eight 12x12 gelatin prints, each using one of the new stencil designs: Most of these prints feel like backgrounds to me -- i.e. they need something more to be "finished." How do you know when artwork is done? It’s a feeling. Are you satisfied or does something about it bother you? Do you feel good looking at it... Read more →

December is over (in fact, January is almost over), which means #CarveDecember is long gone. I wanted to make sure to share the last few December stamps with you. I'm still impressed with myself that I carved 31 rotating repeat stamps in 31 days with a newborn. All of the stamps are about one inch in size and took me less than 30 minutes to design, carve, and print. Here are days 24-31: On December 25, I printed the same stamp in black and white and color and the difference is amazing! I share how to create custom colored prints... Read more →

As I've said before, you can do great things in small bouts of time. Over the past few weeks, I have managed to snatch a few creative sessions in the studio. I used that time to paint one of the moveable walls in my studio. I began by working out some thoughts in my art journal: And then I attacked the wall! You can watch the time lapse process video below: You'll note that the finished mural isn't a copy of the art journal exploration. Instead, I took some of the ideas from that art journal page and applied them... Read more →
