We are 10 days into The 100 Day Project. As I mentioned before, I have been smushing together my #100DaysofArtBotanical with #februllage and I'm not sure that it's working for me. I'll show you what I've done and then I'll talk about why I'm feeling a bit unsure about this mash up.
This was my first day, before #februllage started -- so it's the only piece without collage:
Starting with this next piece, all of these contain collage and are in response to the daily prompts:
Let's talk about these pieces.
The good: I said that I wanted to try a wide variety of styles of creating botanicals and I have -- drawing, stamping, cutting, collaging, and painting.
The problematic: I am feeling a little bit stifled by having to include collage in all of my pieces and I'm finding the prompts frustrating rather than inspiring.
After some thought -- and giving myself permission to quit #februllage -- I'm feeling like I need a point-of-view adjustment. I think I'm approaching these pieces in the same way that I always do. I believe that all art making is problem solving. And I need to change the way I'm solving problems. Or at least experiment with other methods. I think that may alleviate some of the trouble I'm having. It's scary, though. I have methods and processes that work for me. They're time tested. It's scary to do something new. But I think it will ultimately be (a) freeing and (b) really good for me.
Thanks for stopping by!
